The legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden returns to Bogota, Colombia for a scheduled show on March 20, 2011 as part of the Final Frontier world tour. Singer Bruce Dickinson said “It’s great to return to Latin America, because our fans are more passionate than the rest of the planet. The welcome we had in Colombia in 2009 was so impressive that I can not wait to be there again”.
Iron Maiden will travel on its Boeing 757 Ed Force One. The plane has been specially redesigned for the new album. It will carry the band, crew and 10 tons of equipment, traveling over 50,000 miles around world, piloted by captain and singer Bruce Dickinson.
The 29 show tour begins in Moscow on February 11 and then after hitting 26 cities in 13 countries spanning 5 continents, it ends in Tampa, Florida after 66 days of travel.
This tour is to promote the newest album entitled the Final Frontier which was released by EMI Music last August, achieving the highest ratings in the group’s history, reaching the number one position in over 28 countries including Colombia.
Iron Maiden is a global phenomenon in the rock and heavy metal industry with more than 85 million albums sold worldwide in more than 30 years while greatly influencing the vast majority of bands today. During the tour, fans can expect the same passion, commitment and professionalism of the band performing new songs and classics from the past 30 years.
The Final Frontier World Tour 2011 will be an even more ambitious undertaking than its previous 2008/09 Somewhere Back In Time World Tour, which covered 38 countries and almost two million fans, flying around the world twice aboard the Ed Force One.
The adventures of the trip were unique and innovative, both on and off stage. The award-winning DVD Flight 666 was released in May of last year and won the “BRIT AWARD” for the best live band . The DVD peaked at number 1 on DVD charts in 25 countries.
The Final Frontier Tour began in June 2010 with 25 shows in North America and achieved great success by being nominated by Billboard as one of the best tours of the summer in the USA. The band then traveled throughout Europe in August headlining and filling stadiums, participating in major festivals including the Sonisphere and Wacken Festival in Germany.
The second part of the 2011 world tour begins in Russia at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, according to the territories of Singapore and Indonesia before coming to Australia to headline the Soundwave Festival. Soon after, the band plays a first ever concert in South Korea, two nights in Tokyo and Mexico, after which they kick things off in Colombia to start the South American tour.
More than 600,000 more people are expected to see the band play live before they leave Europe.
