As one of the city’s oldest squares, the San Ignacio Square has been a historical centerpiece to Medellin for many, many decades. The square itself is flanked by other historical buildings such as the San Ignacio Church & Cloister as well as the San Ignacio Building belonging to the University of Antioquia. The square, framed and lined by its centuries-old ceiba (silk/cotton) trees, is a center for business, cultural & recreational activities.
